Our intervention fundamentals

Sensitive approach — Listen first
Every project begins with an immersion. What are the stories? What are our first intuitions? What do we feel is right to highlight, what do we want to change or shake up? Our deployments are “tailor-made” creations, always the result of encounters between the existing context, and the intentions we bring to it.

Do together
With partners, with volunteers, with occupants, with residents. Each project is a composition that is created at the crossroads of the implications of all stakeholders. Doing it together applies from design stages to deployment and management. It is experienced in collective satisfaction as well as in difficult situations, where looking together at the problems face-to-face makes it possible to cross stages of esteem and confidence.

Hospitality
Hospitality for the taste of welcoming, the attention to others, the wish that each person feels legitimate. Hospitality for small gestures — offering water, seating, shelter — and their spatial transformations — light, transformable, expandable architectures. Hospitality for those who have little, and for those who are sent back to their differences.

Creativity
Creativity for the desire to do things differently, the energy to want to invent, the ability to question oneself. The creativity of artists, their relationship to the world and the possibilities left to them in our projects. Everyone’s creativity, stimulated, invited and allowed to be heard.

Presumption of trust
This pretty phrase from Edith Hallauer signifies our attention to creating peaceful conditions of discovery, presence and involvement, unlike the mistrust characteristic of our times, unlike also feelings of helplessness for fear of ‘to be judged. Creating this presumption of trust is a subtle step between invitation and surprise, which combines reception, signage, space planning, mediation, security and presence.

Set the pace
We work a lot on the rhythm of our interventions, on the scale of the overall framework of the project, and also within this framework, alternating intense sequences and breaths. This temporal articulation makes it possible to create tension and energy, as well as to set a rhythm of “progressive accomplishments”, to allow the deployment of a project in stages, each stage being an opportunity for satisfaction and constructive retreat.

The strength of cohabitation
For each of our deployments, we make sure to bring together worlds that usually do not mix: varied professional universes, different social backgrounds, multiple cultures and generations. This cohabitation of people is obtained by the cohabitation of functions — crafts, social reception, culture, sports, nature, party … -, and by the development of specific formats targeting in turn, at different times, specific audiences.

To live
Not only to be workers, managers or consultants, but also to be “inhabitants” of our missions, to live them entirely, with our bodies and with our emotions. So on our sites, and even during our studies and our creative workshops, we take the bet to live — from 24 hours to several years — on these spaces that we invest and that, through this incarnation, we know in a sensitive and daily way.

Permanent artistic process
We don’t deal with a particular artistic field, we explore them all. We do not program everything, neither spatially nor in time. Our interest in creation focuses on ways of building together, step by step, with a permanent negotiation of otherness. Our cultural and artistic program values transmission and sharing. It is festive and popular, experimental and sophisticated, multicultural, often free, always collaborative, welcoming and friendly.

Voluntary implications
We are working to ensure that our various projects awaken in everyone a desire to get involved, propose and take part, with their available time, or with ideas and projects. We believe in our collective capacity, and hope that on our various deployments, it will always be natural to come in and say: “I have two hours ahead of me, how can I be of service?”

Collective freedom, editorial direction
It’s a couple. At the same time as leaving a lot of possibilities on a daily basis, and a lot of room for the proposals that come to us, we also assume an “editorial direction” of our projects, therefore an ability to choose, encourage or catch up with projects that have already started. This approach allows us to always be able to move forward fairly quickly, while ensuring overall consistency.

A local, market and multiple economy
