Our intervention fundamentals

Sen­si­tive approach — Lis­ten first
Every project begins with an immer­sion. What are the sto­ries? What are our first intu­itions? What do we feel is right to high­light, what do we want to change or shake up? Our deploy­ments are “tai­lor-made” cre­ations, always the result of encoun­ters between the exist­ing con­text, and the inten­tions we bring to it.

Do togeth­er
With part­ners, with vol­un­teers, with occu­pants, with res­i­dents. Each project is a com­po­si­tion that is cre­at­ed at the cross­roads of the impli­ca­tions of all stake­hold­ers. Doing it togeth­er applies from design stages to deploy­ment and man­age­ment. It is expe­ri­enced in col­lec­tive sat­is­fac­tion as well as in dif­fi­cult sit­u­a­tions, where look­ing togeth­er at the prob­lems face-to-face makes it pos­si­ble to cross stages of esteem and con­fi­dence.

Hos­pi­tal­i­ty
Hos­pi­tal­i­ty for the taste of wel­com­ing, the atten­tion to oth­ers, the wish that each per­son feels legit­i­mate. Hos­pi­tal­i­ty for small ges­tures — offer­ing water, seat­ing, shel­ter — and their spa­tial trans­for­ma­tions — light, trans­formable, expand­able archi­tec­tures. Hos­pi­tal­i­ty for those who have lit­tle, and for those who are sent back to their dif­fer­ences.

Cre­ativ­i­ty
Cre­ativ­i­ty for the desire to do things dif­fer­ent­ly, the ener­gy to want to invent, the abil­i­ty to ques­tion one­self. The cre­ativ­i­ty of artists, their rela­tion­ship to the world and the pos­si­bil­i­ties left to them in our projects. Every­one’s cre­ativ­i­ty, stim­u­lat­ed, invit­ed and allowed to be heard.

Pre­sump­tion of trust
This pret­ty phrase from Edith Hal­lauer sig­ni­fies our atten­tion to cre­at­ing peace­ful con­di­tions of dis­cov­ery, pres­ence and involve­ment, unlike the mis­trust char­ac­ter­is­tic of our times, unlike also feel­ings of help­less­ness for fear of ‘to be judged. Cre­at­ing this pre­sump­tion of trust is a sub­tle step between invi­ta­tion and sur­prise, which com­bines recep­tion, sig­nage, space plan­ning, medi­a­tion, secu­ri­ty and pres­ence.

Set the pace
We work a lot on the rhythm of our inter­ven­tions, on the scale of the over­all frame­work of the project, and also with­in this frame­work, alter­nat­ing intense sequences and breaths. This tem­po­ral artic­u­la­tion makes it pos­si­ble to cre­ate ten­sion and ener­gy, as well as to set a rhythm of “pro­gres­sive accom­plish­ments”, to allow the deploy­ment of a project in stages, each stage being an oppor­tu­ni­ty for sat­is­fac­tion and con­struc­tive retreat.

The strength of cohab­i­ta­tion
For each of our deploy­ments, we make sure to bring togeth­er worlds that usu­al­ly do not mix: var­ied pro­fes­sion­al uni­vers­es, dif­fer­ent social back­grounds, mul­ti­ple cul­tures and gen­er­a­tions. This cohab­i­ta­tion of peo­ple is obtained by the cohab­i­ta­tion of func­tions — crafts, social recep­tion, cul­ture, sports, nature, par­ty … -, and by the devel­op­ment of spe­cif­ic for­mats tar­get­ing in turn, at dif­fer­ent times, spe­cif­ic audi­ences.

To live
Not only to be work­ers, man­agers or con­sul­tants, but also to be “inhab­i­tants” of our mis­sions, to live them entire­ly, with our bod­ies and with our emo­tions. So on our sites, and even dur­ing our stud­ies and our cre­ative work­shops, we take the bet to live — from 24 hours to sev­er­al years — on these spaces that we invest and that, through this incar­na­tion, we know in a sen­si­tive and dai­ly way.

Per­ma­nent artis­tic process
We don’t deal with a par­tic­u­lar artis­tic field, we explore them all. We do not pro­gram every­thing, nei­ther spa­tial­ly nor in time. Our inter­est in cre­ation focus­es on ways of build­ing togeth­er, step by step, with a per­ma­nent nego­ti­a­tion of oth­er­ness. Our cul­tur­al and artis­tic pro­gram val­ues ​​trans­mis­sion and shar­ing. It is fes­tive and pop­u­lar, exper­i­men­tal and sophis­ti­cat­ed, mul­ti­cul­tur­al, often free, always col­lab­o­ra­tive, wel­com­ing and friend­ly.

Vol­un­tary impli­ca­tions
We are work­ing to ensure that our var­i­ous projects awak­en in every­one a desire to get involved, pro­pose and take part, with their avail­able time, or with ideas and projects. We believe in our col­lec­tive capac­i­ty, and hope that on our var­i­ous deploy­ments, it will always be nat­ur­al to come in and say: “I have two hours ahead of me, how can I be of ser­vice?”

Col­lec­tive free­dom, edi­to­r­i­al direc­tion
It’s a cou­ple. At the same time as leav­ing a lot of pos­si­bil­i­ties on a dai­ly basis, and a lot of room for the pro­pos­als that come to us, we also assume an “edi­to­r­i­al direc­tion” of our projects, there­fore an abil­i­ty to choose, encour­age or catch up with projects that have already start­ed. This approach allows us to always be able to move for­ward fair­ly quick­ly, while ensur­ing over­all con­sis­ten­cy.
